Zeze High School is a top-ranked public high school located in the city of Otsu in Shiga Prefecture, just east of Kyoto and home to Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan.
We believe that students should learn how to collect, analyze, and share information not only about our society, but also about the natural world. Keeping this in mind, we put great importance on our daily classes and daily after-school activities. Through these two foundations, students acquire fundamental academic ability, physical strength, and teamwork skills, which are essential for their success in university.
Zeze High School has educational programs specifically for the purpose of arousing intellectual curiosity and cultivating students’ critical thinking skills:
We train our students to have high academic standards, to learn independently, and to think logically and critically.
We have enriched curricula, in which students can pursue advanced studies, including Super Science (SS) Mathematics and English Structure classes. In Comprehensive Studies classes, students create and pursue their own self-driven research projects.
Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has designated selected high schools throughout Japan as Super Science High Schools. Zeze is a Super Science High School, and we are taking the initiative to foster students who can act independently with a global point of view, in a society that is becoming more international. As part of the SSH program, we are affiliated with Kyoto University and Shiga University of Medical Science, where approximately 200 students can take special classes for Zeze High School several times a year. In the areas of science and technology, we want to foster excellent global citizens who have a deep international understanding, sense of curiosity, and well-developed analytical thinking skills.
Be sincere, pursue truth and justice, and contribute to human future.
Be independent, train mind and body, and seek a high ideal.
